Clinical Assisting
Phlebotomy / EKG / Injections / Vital Signs / Urinalysis


The Clinical Assistant course is designed to acquaint the participants with the essentials of Laboratory Procedures as well as gain hands-on proficiency in Phlebotomy, EKG, Injections, Vital Signs, Urinalysis and Physical Exam Assisting.

The Following topics will be covered:
  1. Safety Procedures
  2. Phlebotomy practice in a healthcare setting
  3. EKG essentials
  4. Infection control
  5. Specimen handling
  6. Blood collection equipment
  7. Complications in blood collection
  8. Urinalysis
  9. General Physical Examination
  10. General Gyn Procedures
 
Total Course Length:   32 hours of hands-on participation
Program Prerequisites:   English Language Proficiency
Legal Residency / Student Status

Students have to consent to have their blood samples and EKG's acquired by other students under supervision.
Schedule:
This an on going program that meets twice a week either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.There are both morning and evening classes available. The morning schedule is (10:00-12:00 ) and evening schedule is (7-9). The first day of class there is an orientation for one hour before class starts.
